Overview
The Speedlite EL-10 is the latest addition to Canon's Speedlite lineup, serving as a mid-range portable flash unit and replacing the Speedlite 430EX-III RT. It's ideal for photographers looking to upgrade from basic flash units and delve deeper into flash photography. While the EL-10 offers about one stop less total flash power compared to the high-end Speedlite EL-5 and EL-1 models, it compensates with impressive communication capabilities, controlling up to 15 additional compatible Speedlite units. Moreover, the new Multi-function connector at the EL-10’s base enables advanced communication with multi-function shoe equipped cameras, offering enhanced customization and control. Key to Know:Due to the transition to Canon’s Multi-function accessory shoe, please note that the Speedlite EL-10 cannot be mounted or used on Canon cameras with different accessory shoe designs. |

A Flash For Everybody
Flash photography can significantly enhance your images, though it often seems intimidating to many. The Speedlite EL-10 offers an affordable entry point, allowing you to explore and improve your shots in low-light conditions. Even in bright daylight, a touch of flash can make a substantial difference, adding that perfect splash of light to elevate your photos. |
Time to BounceOne of the best features of a clip on flash is the ability to swivel and bounce light off of surfaces instead of aiming right at the subject (like you would with a built-in flash). The head of the flash can be pulled back to 90º (straight up), and can swivel to the left 150º and 180º to the right. |
Let’s Get WirelessOne of the most thrilling aspects of flash photography is using off-camera flash to illuminate your subject from unexpected angles. This can be easily accomplished with the ST-E3-RT Speedlite Transmitter and a compatible flash, or by using the EL-10 along with up to 15 additional compatible flash units. This setup allows for endless creative possibilities in your flash photography! |
Multi-Function Shoe ConnectionThe new digital connector at the base of the Speedlite EL-10’s Multi-function shoe allows for enhanced communication between the flash and the camera. This results in superior coordination compared to previous Canon Speedlites, including features like “Menu direct” function, customizable button functions, and custom flash modes. Gold-plated terminals improve connection quality, and the installation status is verified before communication begins, ensuring a reliable connection with cameras such as the Canon EOS R3, R7, R10, R50, and R6 Mark II. |
Intuitive UI DesignThe Speedlite EL-10 boasts a modern, refined design with an easy-to-read dot-matrix LCD. It features the same Menu direct + Select dial as the Speedlite 430EX II RT, allowing for swift adjustments during shooting. Camera-linked functions can be accessed via the “Speedlite menu direct button” in the “Customize Buttons” menu of compatible EOS R-series cameras. This functionality enables the dial to quickly display “Flash function settings” or “Quick flash group control” screens on the camera’s LCD, facilitating quick and easy adjustments. |
Expanded App ControlsCanon’s Camera Connect smartphone app enables users to control wireless flash settings, trigger the shutter release, and review photo results directly from their smartphone. This app allows for remote operation and configuration of settings without needing to touch the camera or flash units. It's especially useful for multi-flash setups, placing flash units in hard-to-reach locations, or working with limited assistance. Users can position and direct each flash unit, then use the app to adjust light intensity while monitoring the results on their smartphone screen. |
