The PENTAX WG-8 features a solid, airtight body designed to withstand extreme conditions. It is waterproof to a depth of 20 meters for up to two hours of continuous underwater operation*1, dustproof against dirt and dust*2, shockproof from falls up to 2.1 meters*3, crushproof against weights up to 100 kgf (kilogram force)*4, and cold-resistant to temperatures as low as -10°C*5. The WG-8 combines a state-of-the-art back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with approximately 20 effective megapixels and outstanding light-receiving efficiency with a high-performance imaging engine to deliver high-resolution, low-noise images that maintain excellent quality even when cropped and enlarged. Housed in its compact, lightweight body is a five-times optical zoom lens with an angle-of-view coverage from 5mm to 25mm (equivalent to approximately 28mm to 140mm in the 35mm format), making it versatile for a wide range of applications, from wide-angle shots of sweeping landscapes to telephoto shots of distant subjects.

4K-resolution movie recording & Webcam Function

The WG-8 supports 4K-resolution movie recording at 3840 x 2160 pixels.* Alongside the conventional Movie SR (Shake Reduction) mode, it features Movie SR+ mode in both HD and Full HD recording modes to ensure smooth, flawless clips without camera shake or distortion. *The maximum recording length or file size for a single movie is 25 minutes or 4GB.

Outdoor-friendly design, providing easy operation even with a gloved hand

The WG-8 is engineered for swift and flawless operation, even in harsh conditions. Its solid body, constructed from high-rigidity aluminum panels, allows for easy mode switching with a simple turn of the mode dial, while the vertical zoom button simplifies zooming. The widely spaced control buttons on the back panel ensure easy operation, even with gloved hands.

3.0-inch LCD monitor with Outdoor View Setting for easy viewing during outdoor shooting

The WG-8 is equipped with a large, high-resolution 3.0-inch LCD monitor (3:2 proportions and approximately 1,040,000 dots). The advanced AR (Anti-Reflection) coating has been applied to its protective cover to minimize annoying glare and reflections during outdoor shooting. To optimize the visibility of the on-screen image, it also features the Outdoor View Setting function, which lets you adjust the monitor’s brightness to a desired level (±2 steps) according to changes in ambient lighting conditions.
