A Fusion of Tradition and Innovation. The New GR Lens

The essence of exceptional image quality lies in lenses that skillfully capture light. This principle inspired the creation of the new 18.3mm (28mm in 35mm equivalent focal length) F2.8 GR lens. Staying true to traditional design philosophies while blending cutting-edge optical innovations, the lens features a sophisticated 5-group, 7-element construction, culminating in a large, aspherical, high-precision molded glass lens. This design effectively corrects aberrations, ensuring remarkable sharpness from the center of the frame to its edges. Furthermore, the strategic positioning of high-refractive index low-dispersion glass lenses, alongside aspherical molded glass elements—crafted with ultra-precise manufacturing techniques—results in a sleek and compact lens unit. Complementing this advanced optical system is a newly engineered lens barrel, designed to deliver a quicker start-up time and faster autofocus performance.

High-sensitivity and Low-noise Back-illuminated Sensor. 25.7M CMOS Image Sensor

Faithful reproduction, vibrant tones, and exceptional high-sensitivity performance come together seamlessly in the GR IV. To achieve these advancements, the camera incorporates a back-illuminated APS-C size equivalent CMOS image sensor boasting approximately 25.74 million effective pixels. This innovative design maximizes the use of all incoming light captured by the newly developed GR lens, delivering outstanding sensitivity and minimal noise. Furthermore, a specially designed UV/IR protection filter has been introduced on the front surface of the lens. Notably, by enhancing light permeability on the longer wavelength spectrum, the amount of light reaching the R pixels has been increased, resulting in improved color fidelity and richer image quality.

Advanced Imaging Power and Mobility. GR ENGINE 7

The innovative GR lens and advanced image sensor capture an incredible depth of detail, while the cutting-edge GR ENGINE 7 processes this information with remarkable precision. This enhanced image processing capability ensures lifelike, intricate reproduction of even the finest details. Additionally, the quicker processing speeds significantly boost camera responsiveness, including faster autofocus performance. Together, these features elevate the exceptional image quality and agility essential for a premium snapshot camera.

Expand the Realm of Possibilities. ISO 204800

The GR IV boasts exceptional high-sensitivity performance, offering a maximum ISO setting of 204800. This allows for unprecedented flexibility to adjust sensitivity to suit your unique shooting style. High signal-to-noise ratio outputs from the back-illuminated image sensor are expertly processed through our proprietary accelerator unit before being delivered to the GR ENGINE 7. This enhanced sensitivity adjustment unlocks new creative possibilities, empowering your photographic expression like never before.

Powerful Snapshot Capabilities. 5-axis, 6-step Image Stabilization

The camera excels in detecting movement, even during sudden or spontaneous shots. Its advanced image sensor immediately activates to counteract camera shake, ensuring sharp and clear results. Featuring state-of-the-art 5-axis image stabilization, the GR IV not only corrects angular and rotational blur but also compensates for shift blur, which is often prominent in close-up photography. With a meticulously refined correction algorithm, this system delivers exceptional stabilization performance, providing an improvement equivalent to up to 6.0* steps in shutter speed.
