This lens's internal focusing and zooming design makes it ideal for videographers using gimbals, with dual floating Nano USM motors that independently drive the Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus for fast, quiet performance. This setup minimizes focus breathing, preserving image integrity across the zoom range, while a manual, lockable iris ring ensures consistent exposure during shooting. The lens boasts a sophisticated optical structure, with 18 elements arranged in 15 groups. It includes two super ultralow dispersion elements, an additional ultralow dispersion element to reduce chromatic aberrations, and three aspherical lenses for sharp, edge-to-edge clarity. Canon’s Air Sphere and Super Spectra Coatings help reduce ghosting and flare, and a fluorine coating on the front element protects against oil and water, keeping the lens clear and durable in various conditions.
